MonsterInsights GA Plugin v 7.4 Removes Manual Authentication

Posted by on January 16th, 2019

Something interesting happened this morning, as they sometimes do. Monster Insights, the popular Google Analytics integration plugin for WordPress, released an updated version of their plugin (as they often do). Along with an updated preference panel, the new MonsterInsights (free version is now being called Lite) version 7.4 also removed manual Google Analytics authentication. In the past, it’s been possible to just paste your UA code into the MonsterInsights plugin, whether you had control of that GA property or not. With this latest release of MonsterInsights 7.4, that feature has been removed. Not surprising – MonsterInsights has been pushing authentication…

How To: Add Users to Google Analytics

Posted by on August 17th, 2018

Hello and welcome to another episode of “hasOptimization Explains the Internet”! Today we’re talking about my personal favorite topic, Google Analytics. Google Analytics is the most widely used tool for website analytics. It tracks a vast amount of data points about your site, your users/visitors, and ultimately, it tells you a lot about your marketing and the overall success of your website. We LOVE Google Analytics here at hasOptimization, and asking for access to your site data is probably one of the very first technical-ish things we will ask about when you first become a client. Today, we’re not going…

How to track contact form 7 submissions using Google Analytics

Posted by on August 2nd, 2017

This blog post has been a long time in the making. There are a variety of Contact Form 7 “fixes” to get submissions to show on Google Analytics, but seemingly none of them work. It used to be as simple as dropping a bit of code into the “additional settings” in the contact form, but no longer. It’s taken some time to figure out exactly how this can be done — and actually work — so I’d like to share the various solutions for fixing this. This blog post is dated July 20th, 2017; changes may occur in the future…

Networking, Cards & Other Good Things

Posted by on May 31st, 2012

Business news time! Tomorrow, I’ll be at a networking meetup in Manchester. Thanks to Schall Creative for the invite. Looking forward to meeting other small businesses in central NH, and hopefully some new potential clients! I’d love to work with more NH business. At long last, I have some proper business cards! After much procrastinating and waffling about design and styling, I just did it. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to have them reprinted due to a printing error, but the information on them is accurate and that’s the most important thing (phone number removed in this image). One of…

When a Problem’s Not a Problem

Posted by on May 9th, 2012

I had the opportunity today to fix what appeared to be a big, ugly, wasteful problem in a very simple way, and I have to say: There are few better feelings in my line of work. In brief, I had a client whose Adwords data was not coming through into Analyics, leaving me and the PPC lead with no real information as to which ads were most effective. Never having encountered the issue before, I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do. Most of the time, this data passthrough happens fairly automatically. I’m still not…

Google Analytics Individual Qualification

Posted by on March 3rd, 2011

I’ve been heinously busy the last two week with end of month and beginning of month client work, so this site has seen no improvements or work whatsoever, except that my host upgraded my WP for me. Thanks guys! But I did manage to get through my Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GoogleIQ). If you don’t know what that is and want to, here’s the GA IQ FAQ, which should get you your daily dose of abbreviations all in one go, but the gist of it is: The Google Analytics Individual Qualification is a proof of proficiency in Google Analytics and…
